CompStar Forged H-Beam Connecting Rods

Designed and Produced with Engineering and Finishing advancements, CompStar connecting rods have what it takes to make your engine build trouble free and your finished product reliable. Produced from heat treated and stress relieved 4340 material, CompStar rods are fully machined with a shot blasted Stress Riser free surface. Every detail of this highly stressed component has been carefully analyzed to maximize repeatability and dependability. See for yourself why CompStar can improve your bottom line and reputation.

Features of Our Current CompStar Rod

PARTING SURFACE EDGE CHAMFERED

This is normally done by the engine builder to prevent scraping material from the backside of the bearing insert during installation of the bearing into the rod.

BEARING TAB SLOT FREE OF BURRS

Many of our competitor's rods share a common issue of burrs left in the bearing tab slot during manufacturing. In this situation, the burr prohibits the bearing locator tab from fitting into the receiver slot in the rod.

PIN BUSHING CHAMFERED BEFORE HONING

Another common problem is a burr on one, or both ends of the wristpin bushing. This occurs when the manufacturer trims, or chamfers the bushing after honing to finished size. In this case, the pin either won't slide into the bushing, will slide into one side, but won't pass through the other, or fits tightly in the bushing, as if it has insufficient clearance.

ARP 2000 SERIES BOLTS

The ARP 2000 bolt is an upgrade from the typical 8740 material used in most rods of this type. Use of this bolt increases clamping force between the rod and cap by approximately 2000 psi.

RE-TORQUE DURING MANUFACTURING

During manufacture our rods are initially torqued and rough honed. The bolts are removed, and the rod & cap are then separated allowing the release of residual stress. The rods are then reassembled and re-torqued for final honing. This assures that the rod will still be round when you install it in an engine.

LESS PREP TIME

By incorporating the above features into our rod, we've saved the end user a minimum of an hour of his valuable time. Few things can be more annoying than to unpackage a product for use, only to find that it's not really ready for use. Our goal is to produce a rod that's ready for assembly right out of the box.

SUPERIOR QUALITY CONTROL

Finish honing is done on a state of the art Sunnen Krossgrinder. Tolerance is less than .0002" maximum out of round, taper, hourglass, or barrel shape. The bearing housing surface finish typically has an RA of 9-13.
